“I was ashamed of myself when I realised life was a costume party and I attended with my real face” (Franz Kafka)
Watch the video for the TV FACE single I knew a girl I didn’t know on YouTube (don’t forget to like and subscribe). This was filmed at The Storey in Lancaster by Steve McWade and our long-term visual collaborator Punk Rock Greeny.
We used a 360 degree camera to film the band playing in the round, its the kind of camera sporty people use to show of their skillz. We’re not in the least bit sporty, but we did try a quick jog at the end (won’t be doing that again!).
One of the main themes of the album Tide of Men, from which the song is taken, is the metaphor of masks and masking – attempting to pass as “normal” when you’re a concave octagon living in a square world. In I knew a girl I didn’t know, we are both the pig and human, pulling apart and together, telling truth and telling lies [porky pies].
